Skin care routines essentially consist of having regular facials. Well, if you can afford the time and money to go to your nearest parlor then nothing better than that. But why bother when you can save your precious time and money by DIY- doing it yourself at home. Nothing fancy is needed to a home facial and yes you can do it all by yourself without needing an extra pair of hands, though if you have a friend to assist you it’ll be fabulous. We give you step by step instructions to do your own home facial. Time required is around 25-30 minutes.

Cleaning the Skin

Any good skin care routine must start with cleaning your skin of dirt using a good cleanser. You must clean your face, forehead, neck, ears, nose, and eyelids with the cleanser. If you have been using make-up it’s crucial that you also use an astringent with cotton buds to get rid of any chemicals still on your skin. Dirty skin is main reason of problems like acne and blackheads

Exfoliate the Skin

Top layer of our skin is made up of dead cells that cling to the top surface until they are shed. Now, this shedding process works differently for different people. Using a natural and soft exfoliate is best. There are a lot of gentle facial scrubs available in the market. Apply some water and dampen your skin before using the scrub.

Steam

Steaming your face is an important step of doing home facials. It softens the skin and helps to open the pores. There are different ways of steam taking. You can simply wet a towel on the hot water and rub softly on your face. Or you can use one of those steam treatment things that you can get from the market. You have to be careful that the steam is not too hot. If it feels too hot you have to stop it right away.

Use a mask

Once you have cleaned your skin, got rid of the dead skin cells and softened the pores this is the time to treat your skin to some fantastic masks. Well, you can’t apply same masks for all skin types.  This is where you have to do some research. You have two options- get ready-made masks appropriate for your skin form the drugstore, or, find a recipe to make one at home. Whatever you choose you have to read the instructions and do it properly. Apply the masks for 15-20 minutes and then rinse completely.

Moisturize

The last step is to use a good moisturizer to your face and voila you’ll have that shining new face.
